A note from Zac, Fishing Manager at Morrisons: Its shaping up to be a great steelhead season.

September is the only month that the weather is still nice enough for rafting and the fish runs are in the river system. Enjoy this unique time of the year with two nights lodging combined with a day of guided whitewater rafting and a day of guided fishing.

During your float down the river you will encounter an abundance of wildlife: eagles, osprey, great blue heron, turtles, deer, river otter and an occasional black bear. On the raft trips you can either relax on the raft or try the challenge of an inflatable kayak.

September is the month for rafting and fishing with our Splash and Cast Package.

Price: $675 per adult $486 per child. Package includes:

  • 2 nights accommodations in cozy cottages or lodge rooms.
  • All meals, including a sensational four course gourmet dinner, a full country-style breakfast and lunch each day.
  • Splash jackets and wet suits for cooler weather trips.
  • Use of inflatable kayaks on raft trips.
  • All fishing equipment provided

Fishing Season is starting off with HUGE numbers of "halfpounders"

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife release the count of "halfpounder", juvenile steelhead, for the Lower Rogue River and it looks great. Last season we saw a total count on "halfpounders" only reach 18,757.

On August 25, 2008 the count in the Lower Rogue was 124,832 and ODFW says that we are on course for breaking the record set in 2000.

Check out the complete article - Steelhead numerous in S. Ore. river

The "halfpounders" are not the only count that have increased. By shutting off the salmon angling in the ocean we have seen much better numbers of fall chinook salmon return. Already some boats are having multi fish days and enjoying the opportunity to fish some "halfpounders" between salmon holes.

Everyone is excited to see an increase in fish counts in the Rogue River fishery, for information on fishing packages call Morrisons Rogue River Lodge 800 826-1963 or vist ww.morrisonslodge.com

See you at Morrisons,

Brian
